Few people use the word doctrine in today’s world, yet its use in today’s visual Bible verse is timely and relevant.
What is doctrine? Taken from the Latin word, doctrina, meaning “teaching or instruction”, it is a principle or set of principles that are taught to be followed by a group.
“Doctrines seek to provide religion with intellectual systems for guidance in the processes of instruction, discipline, propaganda, and controversy.” -Brittanica.com
This verse can be interpreted MANY ways. I am NOT here to tell you how to interpret it. My hope is that today’s reading causes you to pause and reflect on the doctrine of the Holy Bible and pray to God for wisdom. Let this one verse lead you to study the entire Bible. Not from your own perspective, but from God’s intended perspective. From His teachings for life.
Ask Him to be your guide, to teach you how to recognize and understand the divisions and offenses we see today, and give you guidance on how to best handle the trials we face. Ask Him to give you strength to avoid those things (and people) that go against His Word.
