God’s Love…

No matter who you love, choose to love deeply! No where you have been, never give up on love! No matter what you have done, know you are loved!

As much as I adore my husband and our 25 years (and counting) of marriage, I realize that true love is so much more than an emotion. It’s a commitment and I am not talking about time!

Perfect love is something you can never completely expect anyone other than God to provide you. Don’t get me wrong, I still believe in the old adage of finding your “true love,” but he/she cannot fulfill all your wants and needs.

Some people are so desperately in need of God’s love, they rush from one relationship to another, only to find themselves feeling hollow or unfulfilled as they expect someone else to provide everything they desire. When that person falls short, they feel defeated, rejected, and upset.

We need to recognize that God is the only one able to provide us with true, perfect love.

Our health may falter, our bank accounts may fluctuate, our dreams may fail, and our hopes may fade…yet God’s LOVE is what remains constant and true. Just as today’s Scripture reads, love “bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” 1 Corinthians 13:7

I cherish my relationship with my husband and the lifetime we continue building together. I celebrate our milestones and memories, but I have come to realize that neither of us are perfect and we cannot handle the world without God as the center of our lives.

I cannot expect my husband to love me like God. Though my husband is amazing, he cannot fix everything, heal my health problems, read my mind, or be perfect. When I feel neglected, I need to go to God. When I feel alone, I need to seek God‘s company! When I feel overwhelmed, I need to pray to God! No one can replace God!

Yes, I believe in true love. I believe God brought my husband and I together to support and lift one another up, but it was never to replace our need for His love! Instead of feeling lost, defeated, and alone as you look for someone or something to complete you, remember God’s love “bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” No one can be God, so don’t expect them to be. If you do, they will never measure up and the novelty of your relationship will fade. Only God is perfect!

Rejoice in His perfect love. Choose to share your own love with others, knowing it is imperfect. Don’t give up on love. First things first, go to God. His love will never fail!
