Taking Care of Yourself

Many of us struggle with finding time to take care of ourselves. As we struggle to balance our family and job responsibilities, there may be little time to really focus on self care. 1 Corinthians 6:20 states that you are to “…glorify God in your body.” How well are you taking care of yourself?

God created each of us for a specific purpose while on Earth. You are blessed with a specific role that no one else can fulfill!! God also allows for us to have free will with the hopes that we glorify Him in all we do. Are you taking care of your body? Do you nourish it with foods to keep it healthy? The Bible has numerous references to nuts, vegetables, fish, and lean meats. But, guess what, God did not create junk food. He created healthy foods, which we still have today.

Having the willpower to eat healthy is not easy. Temptation is all around us. Even today, you will be tempted to eat and drink the very things you know are not healthy, some of which even make you feel sick. Why? We live in a fallen world. If we are tempted and choose to make unhealthy decisions, we cannot complete God’s purpose.

You are stronger than any temptation with God as your guide.

Look again at today’s verse and use it to help guide your choices:

“For you were bought at a price; therefore, glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” 1 Corinthians 6:20
